Hey there, Zeph Jones Owner Operator of Think All Be All Creative Arts Incubator, and I'm excited to roll out this wonderful program for the City of Montgomery! The new MGM Busking Program is a partnership with the Dept. of Cultural Affairs and Think All Be All to accomplish 3 key points:
Provide the opportunity for Creatives to earn money through busking (performing for tips in designated areas) while being incentivized by the City of Montgomery to showcase local talents.
Increase the traffic in less active areas and bring life to spaces that showcase the awe and wonder that Montgomery has to offer.
Crafting the experiences for locals and tourists to engage businesses, events, and enjoy more of the downtown entertainment district!
How to Sign Up and the Requirements
This program is a special pilot program offered for performing creatives like musicians, singers, rappers, and artists to earn money at preselected zones within the downtown area. There are several available time frames for the busking slots. To be eligible here are a few things you'd need to have:
| 2. Proof of performance equipment and ability to perform. | 3. Tip jar and any other resources to keep you busking! | 4. Sign up with Think All Be All to get your time and location for the busking program. |
If you already have and up-to-date busking license you're nearly complete and ready to get paid to play! If you don't lets walk through a few steps to get you started.
Getting your license is easy here's what you need:
| 2. A Sponsoring Nonprofit | 3. $25 Application Fee | 4. A little time and patience |
If you're wondering how to get this information don't worry! I took the liberty of providing all the information for you in the Downloads section on the website, but I'd recommend you check out the Programs section and take the free courses I've provided for you to get a great start in busking!
So let's say that you went through the program (which makes things easier for later busking opportunities that Think All Be All will roll out) and you now have your license, you're now a genuine rockstar! Now to get you signed up for the MGM Busking Program!!!
A tab on the website will be available for you to create your profile and contact a Think All Be All Representative to set up your busking opportunity. If you haven't set up this profile and been scheduled for your busking location and time we won't be able to enroll you in the program. This profile helps the Dept. of Cultural Affairs and Think All Be All ensure you are a part of the program and ultimately get paid to play.
If you go busking and you aren't scheduled that is absolutely fine and encouraged, but you can not be paid the incentive from the program... all that to say let's get you signed up! For both new potential buskers and licensed buskers Think All Be All serves as a resource and opportunity to participate in this program and learn more about what's possible.
The Busking Program Incentive
Now I know you're wondering what's the pay part because I can do the play part. Say less I have that information for you too!
The program has an incentive $100 per hour, per location. There are 3 locations available for a Friday night 6pm - 8pm and a Saturday from 12pm - 6pm. Let me explain for the people in the back lol.
There are 3 locations dedicated to the program:
Biscuit's Stadium Roundabout | Rosa Park's Statue on Dexter Ave | Washington Street Corner Spot | |
Friday | 6pm - 8pm | 6pm - 8pm | 6pm - 8pm |
Saturday | 12pm - 6pm | 12pm - 6pm | 12pm - 6pm |
That means for 1 of the locations you can play and earn $100 for1 hour of playing. If you are scheduled to play more hours you have the opportunity to earn more money. On Friday you can choose to perform for 1 hour or 2 hours. Saturday you have a lot of flexibility because there are more hours to choose from. Based on the amount of buskers that sign up there may be more opportunities to perform for longer timeframes. If there are more buskers than timeframes the shifts may be shortened to account for everyone having the opportunity to get involved.
****Every busker performing is required to have a busking license.****
